THE CALEDONIAN PARTNERSHIP

A partnership led by Highland Birchwoods with the European Union LIFE Programme, The Forestry Commission, Scottish Natural Heritage, Forestry Commission Northern Research Station, Forest Enterprise, South Lanarkshire Council, West of Scotland Water Authority and Central Scotland Countryside Trust.

The LIFE-Nature Programme

The LIFE Programme is a European Initiative, launched in May 1992, which provides funding to countries of the European Union to encourage sustainable development and assist in the implementation of the European Commission’s environmental policies.

The Programme is split into two halves, LIFE-Environment and LIFE-Nature. The main aim of LIFE-Nature, the part of the Programme under which this project is being part-funded, is to facilitate the implementation of the EC Birds and Habitats Directives.
