OUTPUTS:
  • The first ever GIS remote inventory of all woods in Argyll greater than 0.1 Ha in area

  • A new standardised Level 2 field survey methodology has been validated by field testing it in 216 semi-natural woodlands which were identified by a random sample from the Argyll GIS inventory.

  • A Level 2 dataset of a 5% random sample of semi-natural woods in Argyll providing information on natural heritage interest, broad potential for timber production and overall woodland status.

  • A Level 3 field test which evaluates alternative timber inventory techniques to establish the most appropriate for use in semi-natural woods.

  • A level 3 Timber Inventory dataset for a random sample of Level 2 semi-natural woods identified as having potential timber-producing stands.

  • An easily accessible database of the survey results with the project report presented in a format that is compatible with the needs of the end users.
