  • a practical proven woodland survey methodology compatible with the needs of conservation, rural development and forestry organisations, which provides managers with the basic information suitable for management planning at an individual woodland level. This information also validates and enhances the Caledonian Partnership remote survey methodology.

  • Wide availability of information on the extent, location and present status of the Argyll semi-natural woodland resource in a format which is relevant to the needs of commercial and statutory organisations concerned with promoting sustainable management of woodland habitats.

  • Improved understanding of timber mensuration techniques applicable to semi-natural woods.

  • Reliable information about the available timber resource in Argyll which will provide stimulation and confidence to downstream timber-processing businesses.
